First blog.
Welcome to our new website!
It has been a wee while since we last updated our offer but with what is going on in the world right now, I took the opportunity to completely refresh the business. It is no surprise to learn that we lost all of our business within the space of 6 fateful hours having been continuously trading since August 2005. I still vividly remember that train journey back from London and shudder!
Our fate is inextricably linked to the fortunes of hospitality, events and leisure businesses and with the lockdown came some soul searching, do I call it quits and start looking for a job or do I knuckle down, re write the business plan, start again and work hard to realise what has always been my dream – to successfully develop the greatest people in the greatest sectors on the planet.
Anyone that knows me knows that I am annoyingly positive and fixate on the horizon rather than the dwell on the road behind me but even my ‘default’ behavioural preferences were shaken (and continue to be tested) by what is happening within the amazing sectors I am passionate about.
Fortunately, I have a client list which includes some of the best companies, organisations, and individuals who, to a person, have shown nothing but support and understanding. To these individuals I offer a sincere and heartfelt thank you… you know who you are!
I am frequently told that my positive attitude is refreshing and addictive (certainly in the truly horrible situation we find ourselves in) but in truth it does take energy to maintain that mindset.
On occasion I run out of energy and find it difficult to even respond to an email but having always been quite mindful of ‘self’ I jump on my bike or lace up my trainers and head on out which is then followed by an early night. In addition to an occasional run out, I have an exercise routine I do every morning when I get up, followed by a healthy breakfast and a couple of cups of ‘posh’ coffee. I am then better able to maintain that positive outlook and the energy required to keep moving forward.
Once my ‘re charge’ has been completed I am fit and ready to sit down for the rest of the day, developing, delivering virtual courses, learning new ways of doing things, spring cleaning existing courses, developing new learning materials, talking to customers and licensees… you get the idea.
I hope you like the new website and like you, I look forward to better days ahead, stay strong but don’t ever be too proud to ask for help. Always communicate with your support network but understand that you are very rarely truly alone. Be kind, be human and you will always reap the benefits.
